The Week Ahead: Vote Expected on Increased Fines for Illegal Rentals

A look at what lies ahead in the Three Village community this week.

A big town vote is expected this week with implications for the Three Village community. Some other events of note are also set for this week.

1. The Civic Association of the Setaukets and Stony Brook will hold its regular monthly meeting at 7:30 p.m. at Emma S. Clark Memorial Library.

2. The group 3VSAGE, which advocates for gifted students' education in the Three Village Central School District, will meet at 7 p.m. at Mount Elementary on Monday.

3. The Brookhaven Town Board will meet on Tuesday at 5 p.m. at Town Hall in Farmingville. The board is expected to vote on measures that will increase fines for people who violate town housing codes as well as new code amendments that will make it easier for the town to take action against illegal rentals.

4. Part one of the Ward Melville spring concert series is set for Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the high school.

5. On Thursday at 1 p.m., people age 60 and over can get tax preparation counseling through AARP at the library by appointment.
