The Week Ahead: Civic Association, Budget Workshop, Special Election

What's happening in town this week.

There are a number of ways to get involved in community happenings this week – plus, the much-anticipated special election for Brookhaven town highway superintendent will take place on Tuesday. Here's a look at what's happening this week in the Three Village area:

1. The Civic Association of the Setaukets and Stony Brook will hold its regular monthly meeting Monday night at 7:30 p.m. at Emma S. Clark Memorial Library.

2. The Three Village Board of Education will meet Tuesday to kick off its budget workshop series. The meeting will take place in the cafeteria at Murphy Junior High at 7:30 p.m.

3. Tuesday is the Town of Brookhaven's special election for the post of highway superintendent; vote at your regular polling place. Republican Dan Losquadro is facing off against Kathy Walsh, an Independence party member running on the Democratic ticket, and a handful of write-in candidates are hopefuls for the post as well.

4. The Three Village-North Brookhaven Kiwanis Club will hold a general meeting on Tuesday at Mario's at 7 p.m. for those interested in learning more about the organization.

5. The Ward Melville High School PTSA will meet on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the high school.
