The Week Ahead: Blood Drive, Budget Workshop, Stem Cell Lecture Planned

A look at some upcoming Three Village events.

Our "Week Ahead" planner brings to your attention some notable upcoming events in our community. For more events, or to post your own organization's events, visit our free community calendar.

1. The Three Village Teachers Association will hold a community blood drive on Tuesday afternoon between 12 p.m. and 6 p.m. at Murphy Junior High.

2. The school budget workshop series continues with another meeting at the North Country Administration Center on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

3. On Wednesday, there will be a "milk and cookies" reading night at Nassakeag Elementary (6 p.m.) and another similar event at Mount Elementary (7 p.m.).

4. If you're struggling with weight loss or nutrition issues, you can attend a free support group at Setauket Tennis & Fitness on Wednesday at 7 p.m. or Thursday at 11:30 a.m.

5. Learn about stem cell research on Thursday at a 6:30 p.m. lecture given by two Stony Brook faculty members and hosted by the Ward Melville Heritage Organization; $25 admission includes buffet dinner.
