As Three Villagers wake up to icy conditions on Wednesday, the Long Island Power Authority is reporting some isolated power outages in the area and the Long Island Rail Road's Port Jefferson branch is operating on a weekend schedule.
According to LIPA's Storm Center, more than 120 customers concentrated in an area north of Route 25A in Stony Brook are without power as of 9 a.m. Service is expected to be restored within the hour.
That report follows an earlier batch of power outages isolated to residences in between Stony Brook Road and Nicolls Road, which were resolved by about 8:30 a.m.
On the Port Jefferson LIRR line, which serves Port Jefferson, Stony Brook, St. James, Smithtown, Kings Park, Northport, and Huntington, the LIRR has had to make service adjustments due to the effects of the weather on the tracks and equipment. The LIRR is reporting specific issues at Northport and Huntington have caused delays on a few westbound trains so far.
"The forecast calls for rising temperatures and the LIRR will gradually restore service to a weekday schedule," the agency said in a statement on its website.
Peak fares are in effect despite the weekend service timetable.
