Fred Sganga, longtime executive director of the Long Island State Veterans Home in Stony Brook, was honored with a "Community Leadership Award" from the Holiday Inn Express in Stony Brook. Suffolk Legis. Kara Hahn, D-Setauket, was on hand to present Sganga with a proclamation from the county to celebrate his achievements and acknowledge his advocacy on behalf of Long Island's community of veterans. Sganga has also served as interim CEO at Stony Brook University Hospital. “Fred has been an important member of the Stony Brook University community for over three decades working to ensure comfort, care and compassion to our region’s veterans,” Hahn said in a statement to Patch.

Seriously? We are asked to send in enough supplies per kid each year to supply 5 kids. Where does it…Read More all go? It gets lost, thrown out, or ends up back in the students home via backpack. The problem is not the lack of supplies, but a lack of personal responsibility. But if we send in enough supplies each year for ten or fifteen students, then we might be able to avoid the underlying problem.

everyone should research what all the school administrators are raking in and the multple levels of…Read More staff that exists at TVCSD. It is beyond reasonable to have salaries at that level and multiple administrators and assistants and directors and assistant directors and chairman etc. Teachers earn their fair share!
