From Sachem Patch: It only took about nine minutes from the time the Holbrook Fire Department and Suffolk County Police responded to the birth of baby Hannah Grossman, but for three emergency workers the experience was once in a lifetime. Assistant Chief Richard Stack, Holbrook FD Paramedic Chris Colletti and 5th Precinct Officer Christine Balsamo reunited at the Holbrook Fire Department on Terry Road this morning to recount the story of how they delivered a baby girl in her home on Blue Point Road in Holtsville. Stack said that by the time he got to the bedside of the mother, Elena Grossman, baby Hannah was crowning. "It was a very strange and moving situation," Stack said. "I don't have any kids of my own, I've never been in that situation before." for the full story.

From Patchogue Patch: Demolition began on Swezey's, the abandoned department store that anchors the Four Corners in Patchogue Village, Wednesday to make way for Tritec Real Estate company's  New Village plan. The plan is set to bring 291 apartments, 46,000 square feet of retail space and 18,000 square feet of office space at the North Ocean and Main Street intersection. for the full story.

From Miller Place-Rocky Point Patch: The home at 16 Shore Drive in Sound Beach has been in danger of falling into the Long Island Sound for years with continued erosion, and now the Town of Brookhaven has stepped in and condemned the home. The owner of the home, Edith Hotis, is a senior citizen who is worried she's going to be evicted. Sound Beach Civic President Bea Ruberto told Patch that Hotis had initially contacted FEMA to see if she could get some help and at that time was told that the damage wasn't bad enough. Now, with signs posted, Hotis is in danger of facing a court order to leave from the Town if she refuses to leave, according to a report on News12.com.
