Meal Plan Cost Increase to Fund New Dining Center
Fees for on-campus residents to receive $35 bump.
The Faculty Student Association at Stony Brook University approved a $35 increase in the annual cost for the on-campus meal plan, and a portion of the profits from the bump will be allocated to the construction of a new dining hall.
The facility will be built between the Wang Center and Mendelsohn Quad. In addition, food on campus will cost more, and the annual 2 percent increase in the meal plan's price, accounting for inflation, will be implemented.
The dining hall's construction is just one step in the University's plans to give the campus a facelift. A new Stony Brook Union and new parking garages, among other projects, are on the agenda as well.
