May 18: More on the Election, More On Tap Too

Three Village Patch continues its coverage of the budget/BOE election, and the area has other all-important happenings unfolding as well.

The area was buzzing throughout the day yesterday as residents flocked to district elementary schools to exercise their right to vote. While the chatter about the passing of the budget and election of four new school board members will continue, high school playoff brackets are being released and Three Village's agenda features a variety of hot-button items.

1. Three Village Patch will continue its coverage of the 2011 elections. Check back as we provide further details on yesterday's vote, including what the approval of the budget means for the district.

2. To enjoy the water off our shores, one must first learn the basics. Register your children for the tonight at Ward Melville High School. Kids living in and outside the district are eligible to sign up. Residents can register beginning at 6 p.m.; non-resident registration begins at 7 p.m.

3. Shine Dance Studios holds what it calls "45 minutes of pure fun." It's the , which has kids and families moving their bodies, singing and enjoying the company of others.

4. On Tuesday, the was released, with Ward Melville slated to face the winner of Thursday's Northport-Middle Country first-round contest. On Wednesday, the girls lacrosse team, which defeated West Babylon 19-6 yesterday to finish the regular season at 10-4 in Division I, finds out its fate. The power points from the victory over a middle-of-the-pack team, paired with Hills' win over hapless Brentwood and Floyd's loss to Bay Shore, could vault the Patriots into position in which it would have a first-round bye.
