Some important news stories came out of Three Village earlier this week.

As we head toward the weekend, let's take a look back at five big news stories from earlier this week in Three Village.

1. A North Patchogue man is accused of on Monday in East Setauket as well as two other banks and a frozen yogurt cafe in Suffolk. Ward Melville High School and Arrowhead Elementary were briefly locked down immediately following the robbery. Police arrested , 42, on several charges at a motel in Huntington Station on Tuesday.

2. After the body of a man washed up at Jones Beach on Monday, the Nassau County Medical Examiner's office on Tuesday , 31, of Old Field, who had gone missing the prior week while surfing at Gilgo Beach.

3. Stony Brook University President Samuel L. Stanley Jr. held a closed-door meeting on Monday to of Stony Brook Southampton whose lives had been disrupted by the decision to close most of the Southampton campus. Some familiar with the case had , with two elected officials deciding not to attend the meeting because the university maintained its decision to keep the meeting private.

4. A in Strong's Neck on Monday morning. Firefighters determined the home was unoccupied at the time, but the house was fully involved by the time they arrived.

5. On Sunday, the community gathered in various places to remember the victims of 9/11 and honor the heroes of the day. In Three Village, outside the Historical Society; an was held at Setauket Presbyterian Church; and a large was held at the 9/11 Memorial Park on Nicolls Road.
