July 7: Horses Will Trot Through Stony Brook Village Center

A public fire district meeting and horse-drawn carriage rides are on the table for Thursday.

From a public fire district meeting to horse drawn carriage rides, cooking lessons and a new exhibit opening in town, Thursday promises to be an interesting one.

1. The Setauket Fire District commissioners will meet at 6 p.m. at district headquarters on Hulse Road. For those interested in the goings-on of the Setauket Fire District, the meeting is open to the public.

2. Thursdays at the Stony Brook Village Center mean starting at 6 p.m. from one of last year's carriage rides.

3. Learn how to cook like a pro. Chef Guy Reuge offers this summer, including a lobster-themed class Thursday night at 7 p.m. at his in Stony Brook.

4. A new exhibit at the Ward Melville Heritage Organization's Educational & Cultural Center kicks off Thursday. celebrates the region's culture and history from July 7 through September 5, with a grand opening set for July 10.
