Heavy Rain, Wind, Fog in Store for Three Village Area

Powerful gusts of wind and up to an inch of rain expected.

The National Weather Service is predicting a 100 percent chance of rain in the Three Village area on Wednesday night, with winds gusts of up to 60 miles per hour, posing a hazard to pedestrians and motorists and potentially causing property damage.

The NWS has issued a high wind warning, taking effect Wednesday at 6 p.m. and lasting overnight. Showers are expected after 4 p.m., with a thunderstorm beginning after midnight. Dense fog is also expected through the evening.

The warning states that south winds of 25 to 35 miles per hour, with gusts reaching up to 60 miles per hour, could bring down large tree limbs, whole trees and power lines, as well as unsecured items outdoors.

Rainfall accumulation is expected to be between three-quarters of an inch and one inch.

The temperature is expected to remain above the freezing point, sparing drivers from black ice, but heavy rain will still prove hazardous and motorists should exercise extra caution.
