Being Wolfie - the beloved mascot for Stony Brook University sports teams - is not an easy gig. You have to show up at Chamber of Commerce barbeques, star in ESPN commercials and, of course, egg on the crowd at sporting events for the Seawolves. You’d think that a big star like that would get a lot of respect. Usually he does.
Except when one of your own species shows up and the canine instincts kick in.
A black Labrador retriever at the Rocky Point St. Paddy’s Day parade on Sunday gave Wolfie a good old-fashioned doggie greeting. (Guess he didn’t get the memo on what a big star Wolfie is.)
