#68 – Learn the History of Hercules

Sure, you've passed by the statue near Stony Brook Harbor, but have you stopped by to get a close-up look?

Hercules stands watch over Stony Brook's village green and harbor day and night, but have you ever visited for an up-close look?

If you have, you already know that Stony Brook's Hercules statue was once the figurehead on board the U.S.S. Ohio, built in 1820. Keeping Hercules company in his pavilion is the Polaris Whaleboat, another historic artifact belonging to the Ward Melville Heritage Organization.
