10 Things To Do While the Kids Are Off From School

Plenty of fun can be had locally.

Though Monday was a school day, the rest of the week for kids in Three Village is spring break – a time to celebrate religious holidays as well as the arrival of spring. Here are a few ideas we've put together; you can find more in our series "100 Things to Do in Three Village."

1. Benner's Farm has a week full of fun lined up for kids and teens. Click here to learn more about what the farm has to offer this week.

2. Have you ever heard of geocaching? If you've got a smartphone or GPS device, you can have an adventure hunting for local "treasure." Click here to learn more.

3. Discover "dinosaur daze" or become a "dinosaur detective" (separate activities for ages 3-5 and 6-10) at the Ward Melville Heritage Organization's Educational and Cultural Center.

5. There's always tons of things happening at Emma S. Clark Memorial Library.

6. Have you checked out The Revolution in Stony Brook yet? It's a cool new video gaming center for kids and teens. Click here to learn more.

7. The Long Island Museum re-opened recently after a winter hiatus. Check out the carriages (though part of the carriage house is still closed for renovation), the exhibit on famed local artist William Sidney Mount, the new "Colors of Long Island" exhibit, the original Nassakeag one-room schoolhouse and more.

8. Venture outside of the Three Village area: the Long Island Aquarium in Riverhead is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

9. Venture outside of the Three Village area: the Cradle of Aviation and the Long Island Children's Museum, located next-door to each other in Garden City, are worth the trip.

10. Venture outside of the Three Village area: The Maritime Explorium in nearby Port Jefferson is open every day from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. with different exhibits and activities each day.
