Smithtown Bay-Shaken and Stirred

I always have to see how the beach made it through the storm.

Following any snow storm I always make my way down to the beach, no matter how much snow we have. I have to see how the beach made it through the storm. Today I was surprised to see that the water was still churning with big, dirty waves. It seems like erosion took another bite out of the landscape this year. My stair case is still intact but my umbrella stand, (a hollow log filled with a PVC pipe and cement) was gone, as well as a table I had made from a skim board and a stump. Swept away! What was I thinking? I did not prepare well enough and was only thinking about snow, not water.

Well, since I made both these items with free stuff that washed up, I guess the bay had a right to take them back. Who knows what I will find down there this week after the waves settle? I am still waiting on that bag of money!
