“Everybody’s talking at me and I don’t hear a word they’re saying.”
--Harry Nilsson
Ever feel like that? I do quite often. Talking, noise, phones ringing (and so many ring tones!), cars honking, loud music thumping, emails, emails and more emails! When our lives finally do have a quiet moment it really stands out and we remark, “It’s so quiet!”

For some time now I have been thinking about giving myself a totally silent day--one with no talking or electronics and just filled with quiet reflection. I have no idea what will happen, if anything! But I convinced a few friends to do it with me. We chose a Sunday in the middle of the winter, February 9, 2014 and we are calling it “Silent Sunday.” I wanted our logo to be “Can’t you just shut up for a day for crying out loud?” But we are going with “Silent Sunday. Stop Look Listen. Serenity Approaching”
I will be writing more about the positive effects of silence in the months to come. I would love to hear what you think of the idea, or if you have ever spent a day in quiet reflection.
