Here's Hoping the Lights Stay On

I just went down to the beach to check on Smithtown Bay. The water is actually pretty calm, but a weird whirling dervish wind is blowing on the surface, all this way and that.

I worked from home today and what an excellent decision that was! Usually given a 50-50 chance of being right, I always pick wrong. But not today! I have my generator at the ready, gassed up and all cozy under a tarp. My lanterns and Coleman camping stove are in the wings waiting. Unfortunately I am down to just half a bottle of wine though. Now THAT was bad planning.

I just went down to the beach to check on Smithtown Bay. The water is actually pretty calm, but a weird whirling dervish wind is blowing on the surface, all this way and that. It seems to come out of the north one second, then the east, then from all over. Something’s coming…

The snow/slush/icy crap (technical meteorological term) that is falling does not seem to be sticking to the trees yet, which is a good sign. Because tree limbs look a lot like LIPA wires and I do not want to see either get heavy with ice and SNAP!

But I'm feeling kind of lucky today. Hear that National Grid??

Justme.. Even if everyone voted no the raises were locked. By voting no programs would have beenRead More decimated more and more teachers given pink slips. The problem here is the BOE giving the union these contracts. It's time to STOP THE MADNESS!!

And the candidate for the BOE ran unopposed. We have no to blame but ourselves.

Yes TC change is difficult but it has to start somewhere. What motivation does the BOE have toRead More change when we keep passing the budgets? Budgets have to fail, programs have to be cut before there will be any union negotiations. Many have to lose their jobs before they will allow their pay to be cut. Sounds harsh but it's reality. Our children will survive cuts, be educated and successful - even with less programs.
