Year in Review: 12 Stores that Opened in Three Village in 2012

Frozen yogurt cafés were a particularly hot trend.

Despite the sluggish economy that has continued to characterize the business community across Long Island, Three Village saw 12 new stores open in 2012. Here they are in no particular order:

1. Jamba Juice. This juice and smoothie franchise opened in November as the brand's first storefront on Long Island.

2. Wildberry Yogurt. Individually launched by a Setauket mom, this frozen yogurt café opened in September.

6. The Spa at Legends. Legends Hair Designs, a longtime fixture in the Stony Brook Village Center, opened a separate storefront as a day spa.

7. Mint. A trendy clothing boutique for women and teens opened in the Stony Brook Village Center in April.

8. Burlington Coat Factory. This national brand relocated from its Lake Grove store to the former location of Linens n' Things in Stony Brook.

9. Jos. A. Bank Clothiers. This upscale menswear store replaced Talbot's in the Stony Brook Village Center.

10. The Revolution. Kids and teens from Three Village have been inundating this new video game store and gaming center since it opened in September.

11. Children of America. Not a store, we realize, but we'd be remiss in not mentioning this new educational childcare facility that opened in the former location of Tutor Time.

12. Krudmart. An edgy boutique for men and women, boys and girls, catering to the skater culture, opened in April.
