TRITEC Completes Construction in Tech Park

Construction in the 102-acre technology park on Stony Brook began in 1987.

Real estate developer TRITEC has completed the final stages of its Stony Brook Technology Park, a project it began in 1987 on 102 acres of land off of Belle Meade Road.

The company announced Tuesday it has received a certificate of occupany for 4 Technology Drive, a 40,000 square foot medical condo that is the last of the park's 26 buildings – which total a million square feet – to be completed.

“This was a risky undertaking when we began planning the park,” Bob Coughlan, a principal of TRITEC, said in a statement. “Until then, most businesses were located close to labor pools and major highways. On Long Island that meant near the Long Island Expressway.”

Stony Brook University Medical Center, located about two miles away from the tech park, has administrative and medical facilities there.
