Sure, you could travel to Long Island's east end to pick a Christmas tree (and here is a list of places you can do so). But why not keep it local? It will save you time and gas money, and put your dollars back into the local economy.
AnnMarie's Farm Stand and Pantaleon's Farmstand, both in Setauket, are selling fresh cut Christmas trees. At Pantaleon's prices start at $59, with a $10 off deal for balsams. There you'll find full sized balsam and frasier trees, as well as mini trees, wreaths, swags, poinsettias, and more.
At AnnMarie's, you'll find balsam firs, frasiers, and noble firs. Prices range from $38 to $67. You can also pick up your fresh wreaths, kissing balls, swags, and blankets there, too.
"They're a little cheaper this year because the economy's tough," said Mary Ann Deriso, owner of AnnMarie's Farm Stand. "We got a good deal on trees this year. Hopefully the local economy picks back up."
If you can't find what you're looking for at the farm stands, local Waldbaum's stores and Whole Foods are also selling trees, including 3- and 4-foot trees perfect for apartments or small rooms in your home.
