The Associated Press reported earlier this week that OfficeMax, the third-largest office supplies retailer in the nation, announced the closure of 110 of its 950 U.S. stores in the first quarter of 2011. According to the company's most recent earnings report, its third quarter report released Oct. 27, 2010, OfficeMax sales fell 2.1 percent to $1,774.8 million in year-over-year earnings from the third quarter of 2010.

An OfficeMax spokeswoman could not be reached for comment.

Those looking for office supplies can turn to OfficeMax's other stores in Bohemia and Riverhead, or the location in Port Jefferson Station.

Staples in Lake Grove is still in TheWiz/DSW Plaza as far as I know.
