Members of East Setauket's SNAP Fitness location on Route 347 are now patrons at World Gym Setauket, after SNAP Fitness abruptly closed within the last couple of weeks.
Signs in the windows of the former SNAP Fitness gym -- which has been emptied of its equipment -- call the move a "merger" that will "offer even more amenities and services to all members."
"The atmosphere in the club is wonderful and similar to our own. ... World Gym will quickly feel like home," the SNAP Fitness management said in its letter.
World Gym Setauket is an 88,000 square foot facility located on 10 acres off of Mark Tree Road just north of Route 347. It is honoring all paid-in-full SNAP Fitness memberships and monthly contracts for their durations, and is guaranteeing no price increases for former SNAP Fitness members through June 30, 2014.
While SNAP Fitness was a 24-hour operation, World Gym is open Monday through Friday from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. and weekends from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
