Patch Picks: Local Boutiques Have Flair for the Unique

Here are five places to shop locally and still find great stuff.

There's a huge mall nearby, but shopaholics know that part of the fun in shopping lies not only in having a vast selection of stores from which to choose, but also having access to stores which offer stuff that's unique. That means a trip to the often-tiny, independently-owned shops in Three Village – which is also a boon to local commerce. Here are five that come to mind:

  • One-of-a-kind looks and designer deals are the focus here, to the extent that owners Livia Cooper, Kelli Melucci, and Randi Vogel (a mother-daughter-daughter team) only stock a few of each item. Moderately priced denim, inexpensive summer dresses, and hot accessories are also plentiful here.
  • One of the few nearby skate/surf/snowboard shops not located in a mall, Hudson has a variety of equipment, accessories, and clothing for the lover of those sports. Owner Antonio Berrios is a cool guy and it shows in his store.
  • Flair. With prom and wedding season approaching, it's the logical nearby choice for formal wear. Owner Hasmik Buzzeta makes sure the store has a more personal feeling to customer service than what you'll get at the big department stores.
  • This home accents boutique is full of charming pieces varying in function and style and ranging from small to large. Owner Michelle Mancuso also offers interior design services based out of the East Setauket store.
  • This children's boutique offers a selection of clothing, toys, games, and personalized gifts. Owner Kathy Pagano keeps the shop bright and cheerful, and often plans in-store events around holidays to keep the kids entertained.

Don't mind a short drive? Check out Port Jefferson's , some of which we were tempted to put in Three Village's list.
