Open for Business: 12 Places to go on Thanksgiving

Not everyone's closed on Turkey Day.

All the usual places are closed: schools, post offices, libraries, banks, town and village offices. But you can still find places open on Thanksgiving, whether you need a last-minute can of cranberry sauce for dinner, a late-night drink with friends in town for the holiday, or a cup of coffee to get through it all.

  • Not only is theater open on Thanksgiving – it's actually open every day of the year. The theater offers $6 movies before noon, $9 movies between noon and 4 p.m., and regularly priced $11 tickets after that.
  • Who feels like doing dishes on Thanksgiving? is open for dinner with its regular menu, and is taking reservations for its buffet starting at 2 p.m. is open from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m.
  • A few local watering holes are open for business, including and Checkmate. Just in case you need to unwind after dinner with the family.
  • Both local Stop & Shop locations as well as are open from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. is open from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m., and both local Waldbaums locations are open from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m.
