New Women's Boutique on the Horizon at Village Center

Mint, a shop with three other locations, is coming to the Stony Brook Village Center.

First it opened in , then Westhampton Beach and New York City's Upper West Side. Now, women's boutique Mint is set to open a fourth location in the Stony Brook Village Center this April.

In a phone interview Monday, Joanna Mazzella said she and her husband/co-owner Stephan plan to start renovating their new storefront in the Stony Brook Village Center next week. They will occupy the storefront formerly held by , which abandoned its storefront in January in favor of an online-only business format.

"The community out there will benefit from another boutique. ... I think it just promotes better shopping in the area," said Mazzella, 32. She said she believes more shopping choices will bring more customers, which benefits every store.

At 700 square feet, the Stony Brook storefront is a little smaller than Mint's Mattituck location and a little bit bigger than its Westhampton Beach location.

Not unlike other shops in Three Village, such as , , and , Mint describes itself as "a contemporary trend-driven women's boutique."

"We're constantly getting new things in," Mazzella said. "We get a size run and once it's gone we like to run on to the next thing we see."

But Mazzella said the store plans to carry different designer lines than the others.

"We're really excited," Mazzella said. "I hope it will be successful. I hope we'll be offering the Stony Brook community something they don't have yet."
