Name Change Yields Results For Setauket Store

Since changing his store's name to Setauket Cards & Gifts in January, Dave Patel has noticed a change.

"A lot more new people came in," he said. "They come in with curiosity. 'It's a card store, what else could they have?'"

He said the goal of the name change was to send a message that the store isn't just a discount card store. Patel now carries Crabtree & Evelyn products, jewelry and other women's accessories, Anuschka bags - which have been featured in magazines like Bazaar and Redbook - along with custom invitations.

"It's a positive effect," Patel said. "We have the old customers but we have new ones too."
