It's all about bringing the best of Manhattan back to Long Island.
That's according to Michelle Mancuso, owner of the East Setauket-based interior design company Samantha Drew Interiors, which announced the opening of up a "pop up studio" on New York City's Madison Avenue the first week of February.
"We tend to go to the city a lot anyway because we really want to bring our clients the best of everything. The best fabrics, the best manufacturers," Mancuso said. "We find that by being in the city we’re able to get the newest, hottest items that are out there. To be immersed in that world just makes us a better design firm."
It's a temporary expansion for now, but she didn't rule out a more permanent presence in New York City. "We’re going to see how it goes, do it for a few months and see how we dig it," she said.
At one point, Mancuso said she and her daughter spent a day walking around Madison Avenue and visiting all the fabulous stores, like Nicole Miller, Jimmy Choo, and Tory Burch.
"The designs, the quality, the knowledge of the people who work in the stores, makes you a better person if you bring it back to your own store," she said. "To be in this community is amazing because you learn so much."
