East Coast Burrito Co. to Serve Beer, Deliver Lunch

The newest eatery in town, East Coast Burrito Co., has expanded its offerings.

The restaurant, which opened April 8, began offering delivery service at lunchtime and has added beer and empanadas to its menu.

Delivery hours are 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a $15 minimum purchase requirement. The management told Patch Wednesday that dinner delivery may be on the horizon.

The new Tex-Mex eatery opened in Stony Brook in April in the former home of Cuzzin's Smoothie Cafe. At the time, the owner told Patch that East Coast wanted to be a bit more experimental than the other Mexican's joints in town.

"The concept we’ve been working on a long time, experimenting with flavors and such," said owner Tom Freck. "I think we put a different spin, a different flair here."

A quick stop at the eatery and that becomes clear, fast. Meat choices include things like jerk chicken, a Caribbean style of seasoning. Their smoky burrito features bacon and smoked Gouda cheese, not a pairing you'd find in traditional Mexican eateries.

Freck told us in April that said chose the location because it's a standalone building in a heavily trafficked area that has plenty of parking.

"It always makes you wonder why, but I felt the location was perfect for what I wanted to do," he said, "so even though it turned over a few times, I think we are going to succeed."

What do you think? Will it?
