Cuzzin's Comes Through for a Hearty Lunch

New cafe in Setauket grills up a good roast beef panini.

Don't let the name "Cuzzin's Smoothie Cafe" mislead you; if you haven't had a chance to stop in, you may not realize the restaurant serves more than just smoothies. The cafe opened this past winter at the former location of Melville's, but only celebrated its grand opening in the last few weeks.

The Dish: Roast Beef Panini ($8.95)

What's Inside: Besides the obvious, the roast beef panini also has carmelized onions, roasted red peppers, Gruyere, lettuce and horseradish mayonnaise. It comes on your choice of flatbread or ciabatta roll.

Eat This Because: You'll get a lot for the price tag – both in taste and in portion size. The hefty panini combined a few complementary flavors for a satisfying lunch. You may even need to take half of it home with you.

Side Dish: Cuzzin's Setauket location is its second in the region; the first is located in Miller Place. Thus, Cuzzin's Smoothie Cafe is – also kind of obvious – known for its smoothies, many of which are named for nearby places like Hampton Bays, Fire Island and Pirate's Cove. Stop by on a Monday, and all smoothies are half price. The restaurant also offers lunch combos and daily specials.
