Stony Brook Film Festival Guide: July 27

A look at what's showing at the Staller Center on Friday.

The lineup for Friday, July 27 at the Stony Brook Film Festival:

7:00 p.m.

Side by Side (100 minutes)
For nearly a century, filmmaking via photochemical film processing was the only way to make a movie – until the development of digital technology. Produced by Keanu Reeves and Justin Szlasa, Side by Side is a documentary that examines "the science, art, and impact of digital cinema." James Cameron, George Lucas, Martin Scorcese, Christopher Nolan, and others are interviewed in the documentary. Director Chris Kenneally and cinematographer Chris Cassidy, a Stony Brook alumnus, will be in attendance.

9:30 p.m.

Le Skylab (113 minutes)
A French comedy set in 1979. An extended family comes together, all of whom believe the SkyLab, a part of an American rocket, will fall down upon their heads. The weekend turns into one of laughter, love, and revelations. In French with subtitles.
