Stony Brook Film Festival Guide: July 19

It's opening night at the Stony Brook Film Festival.

The Stony Brook Film Festival kicks off with a world premiere film, No God No Master, and a celebration to mark the festival's opening.

No God No Master (94 minutes)
Starring David Strathairn and directed by Terry Green. Set in the summer of 1919 following World War I, a time period characterized by bomb plots, the Palmer Raids, the Sacco and Vanzetti trial, and Emma Goldman and the union movement. "Like all stories that need to be understood at the mythic level, this is part of a nation's history that should inform the present era and future of the country," Green notes. Green along with actors Ray Wise, Edoardo Ballerini, Alessandro Mario will be in attendance. Note: Advance tickets are no longer available. Standby tickets go on sale the night of the film.

Enjoy dessert and drinks to celebrate the start of the 17th annual Stony Brook Film Festival. Tickets for passholders are $20; tickets for non-passholders are $25.
