'Local Color II' Opens at Gallery North

Setauket gallery showcases local talent.

Setauket's Gallery North, a not-for-profit art space, is highlighting local artists for the second time this season with "Local Color II: Painting and Works on Paper."

"Together, these multimedia artists showcase the natural beauty of Long Island’s sea and skyscapes, woods, and fields, as well as the bustle and interplay of its roads and residents," the gallery stated. "Local Color highlights the unique perspectives that photography and painting can offer as each artist investigates a point of view and the living environment."

The exhibition kicks off with a reception Friday from 5 to 7 p.m.

Artists incluede Kelynn Alder, Fred Badalamenti, Eleanor Berger, Maricel Boucher, Joan Branca, Sheila Breck, Nancy Bueti-Randall, Anthony Davis, Cecile Defforey, Jeannette Dick, Jennifer DiRubbio, Oscar Dizon, Bruce Lieberman,
John Mansueto, Eleanor Meier, Jim Molloy, Iacopo Pasquinelli, Helena Clare Pittman, Denis Ponsot, Doug Reina, Irene Ruddock, Angela Stratton, Sharon Way-Howard, Laura Westlake, Felicitas Wetter, and Christian White.

Additionally, three student recipients of Gallery North's Virginia Fuller Memorial Prize, Brooke Bofill, Rebecca Chipkin, and Mindy Mosher, have works included in the exhibition.

Way-Howard, Bofill and Mosher will speak about the passion and
technique of their work on Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. as part of the ArTalk@GalleryNorth series.

The show continues through Aug. 16.
