July 12: Silent Auction at Gallery North, Free Senior Event at L.I. Museum

Two art events top our list of "5 Things You Need to Know Today."

If art is your thing, you're in luck on Tuesday (especially if you're a senior citizen who appreciates art). Also on deck: a full lineup of events at the Setauket Neighborhood House and a musical performance at a local restaurant.

1. A silent auction of the artists' paintings created during this past weekend's Wet Paint Festival is ongoing until July 14 at Gallery North. The proceeds from the festival will support the gallery, which is a nonprofit organization.

2. Another local institution of art and culture, the Long Island Museum, is holding a for seniors of its new exhibit. Senior citizens ages 62 and up can take advantage of this special between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. Tuesday.

3. The day's offerings at the Setauket Neighborhood House include a yoga class at 8 a.m., a meeting of the at 9:30 a.m., at 1 p.m., and at 4 p.m.
