Duck Decoy Day

Folklorist John Eilertsen leads a discussion on decoy carving while carvers demonstrate their craft. Visitors will enjoy the Bayman's Art gallery, normally closed to the public, on view in the Visitors Center. The exhibition includes wildfowl decoys, a model of an early 20th century bayman’s shop and a diorama of Effie’s Hole, a small cove in eastern Long Island where duck hunting was a mainstay of life. This program is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with support from Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.
