Weekend Guide: The Holidays Start Here

Patch picks for weekend fun.

Christmas and Hannukah events are in the spotlight this weekend. Here's a breakdown of some upcoming holiday events in Three Village – and beyond the holidays, there's more to be found in our events calendar. Do you want to post your own holiday event in our calendar? Click here to learn how.

Holiday Events

  • The Three Village Historical Society's annual Candlelight House Tour is set for Friday and Saturday this week. Check out the details here.
  • "Wolfie's Winter Wonderland" is an event that will take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Stony Brook University's Sports Complex before the men's basketball game against Eastern Illinois at 2 p.m. Pictures with Santa Claus are $2 and cookies and hot chocolate will be served.
  • Smith Haven Mall will host a Christmas Tree lighting on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
  • The annual Christmas tree lighting and holiday festival is set for Sunday, Dec. 2 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Stony Brook Village Center.
  • Smith Haven Mall will host a Hannukah celebration on Sunday, Dec. 2 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., where activities will include a dreidel origami station, scavenger hunt, Hanukkah cookie decorating, olive oil tasting, drumming, and more.
  • The Studio in Stony Brook, located at 1113 North Country Road, will hold its holiday-themed pop-up-shop this weekend. Check the event listings for Friday, Saturday and Sunday for details.

Kids & Teens

  • Check out Revolution, a new video gaming place on Route 25A in Stony Brook, for open game play and weekly tournaments. 

Arts & Exhibits

  • Each year around this time, Gallery North transforms into a winter wonderland of especially beautiful gifts to give. Details here.
  • "Long Island: America's 1950s Frontier" is still on display at the Long Island Museum.

  • The annual Cabaret Night fundraiser at Murphy Junior High will take place Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $35.
  • St. James RC Church's Harvest Moon Raffle, which was rescheduled due to the recent hurricane, will take place Sunday at 6:30 p.m. at the church.
