Live Music
- Lara Herscovitch will perform at Grounds & Sounds at UUFSB on Friday night; show starts with an open mic session at 8 p.m. (tickets $12.50). Her music has been described as an original blend of modern acoustic/folk with blues, jazz, and pop influences.
- St. James Church will host a choral concert featuring the Brahms German Requiem starting at 8 p.m. Saturday (tickets $15-$20).
- The annual Asian Festival will take place at Stony Brook University's Wang Center on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Click here for details.
- The Three Village Historical Society's Village Green walking tour is at 2 p.m. on Saturday starting at the Setauket Neighborhood House.
- On Saturday at UUFSB, Playback Theater will present "We're All Immigrants Here... What's Your Story?" at 7 p.m. (free admission).
- Kids ages 7 through 12 can take a "Surprise for Mom" watercolor class at Emma S. Clark Memorial Library on Friday night: 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. for ages 7 through 9 and 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. for ages 10 through 12.
- Celebrate mom with a little shopping at the "Champagne and Shopping" pop-up shop at Samantha Drew in East Setauket on Friday and Saturday starting at 10 a.m.
- Celebrate Mother's Day with a tea party fundraiser at 11 a.m. Saturday at Shine Dance Studio to benefit "Rooms For Love," which does room makeovers for children with cancer.
- Bring unwanted electronics to the E-Waste Recycling Day at Ward Melville High School from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to dispose of them properly.
- Get your car washed at Arrowhead Elementary ($4 suggested donation) on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to benefit the Arrowhead Food Pantry.
- The Bench will host a 5K run/walk to benefit Play Fit-Stay Fit, an organization that promotes wellness for children who have survived cancer and their families. Start time is 8:30 a.m. Saturday morning.
- Minnesauke Elementary will host "Movie Night Under the Stars" with a showing of Madagascar 3 at 7 p.m. Bring blankets and chairs; refreshments will be sold.
- W.S. Mount Elemetary's "Putting on the Hits" night is Friday at 7 p.m. at Ward Melville High School.
- Benner's Farm will offer a "needlefelted tea cup pincushion" workshop to teach the art of dry felting using needles ($35). Click here for details.
- On Saturday at 7 a.m. at West Meadow Beach, there will be a two-hour birding walk for adults.
