Cab Driver Dies in East Setauket Crash

Police have identified a taxi driver who died early Friday morning in a car crash in East Setauket as Wayne Bracone, 58, of Ridge. Bracone was driving a 2001 Ford for Islandwide Taxi when the cab left the roadway and struck a utility pole at Gnarled Hollow Road and Route 25A. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Library to Add 'Leap' Technology to Computer Offerings

Emma S. Clark Memorial Library on Monday will unveil a new addition to its lineup of new technology for patrons to learn. The device, known as "Leap" technology, is an attachment that allows a computer user to navigate software with their hands in the air rather than with a keyboard or mouse. 

Police Searching for Burglar Who Hit Setauket-Area Businesses

Police are searching for a man who burglarized multiple businesses in Setauket and Port Jefferson Station in July. Police described the suspect as a white man in his early 40s with thick dark hair and a dark mustache, and said he was wearing a loose t-shirt and sweatpants. The burglaries, in which the man stole money from cash registers, took place between July 13 and July 14.

Level I Sex Offender Registers Residence in Stony Brook Area

A moderate-risk Level 1 sex offender has registered a residence in the Stony Brook area, according to a letter distributed by the Three Village Central School District last week. The letter does not detail the street of residence of the Level 1 sex offender because it is illegal to do so; the address has not been provided to the school district.
