Things to Do in Three Village: #47 – Explore Laurel Ridge Bicycle Trail

Trail runs through the Setauket Woods Nature Preserve.

Located off of Belle Meade Road in Setauket is the Laurel Ridge bicycle trail, a multi-level trail that is part of the Setauket Woods Nature Preserve.

The trail is operated as a partnership between the Town of Brookhaven Parks and Recreation, Suffolk County Parks, and C.L.I.M.B. – the acronym for Concerned Long Island Mountain Bicyclists, a chapter of the National Mountain Bike Patrol.

The one-direction trail is 12 miles long, which C.L.I.M.B. estimates takes a novice rider two hours to complete. A helmet and eye protection are required for riding the trail; recommended supplies include a tire tube, pump, water, map and cell phone; and C.L.I.M.B. cautions riders to leave at least two-and-a-half hours before sunset for riding.
