Summer Food Trends in Three Village

Patch found out what Three Villagers are eating this summer.

Three Village Inn

Maria & Guy Reuge - a husband and wife team who run Mirabelle Restaurant and The Tavern at Three Village Inn - have a large variety of summer specialty dishes to offer this summer.

A seafood tower is featured on the menu during the summer months. This selection of fresh oysters, clams, mussels, lobster, crab and shrimp is "a real treat in the summertime," said Maria Reuge who runs The Tavern and Mirabelle Restaurant, alongside her husband.

Pentimento

The chef and owner of Pentimento, Dennis Young said fettucine pasta with sashimi tuna and scallions topped with shaved parmesean cheese is one of the most popular summer dishes. He also added that diners tend to order more salads and fish in the warmer months.

Robinson's Tea Room

Loretta Vertucci of Robinson's Tea Room said that during the hot summer months, their most popular products are their raspberry and peach iced teas. Vertucci said the iced teas are caffeine free, sugar free and naturally sweet.

"The tropical fruit flavored hot teas are also popular - even during the summer," said Vertucci.

Soups On

Even soup is still popular among Three Villagers in the summertime. This local eatery says that many of their patrons ask for their scallop and bacon soup or Italian vegetable soup with eggplant during the hotter months. Soups On also serves gazpacho- a tomato-based cold soup.

Stop & Shop

Summertime means barbeque at Stop & Shop. Once the heat hits, this supermarket fills their end caps with hot dog and hamburger buns, bags of charcoal and of course everything you need to make the perfect smore.

Stop & Shop also boasts loads of fresh produce, featuring locally grown peaches and strawberries, and different varieties of watermelon.

Friendly's

For fans of Friendly's Ice Cream, manager Jennifer told Patch that the store goes through classic vanilla ice cream more than any other flavor.

Ralph's Famous Italian Ices

This Italian Ice shop located on Stony Brook Road said Graham Cracker Crunch and Rainbow are their most popular sellers in the summertime.

Brook House

An employee from Brook House said that they offer peach ice cream and sorbet - including mango and coconut - as seasonal flavors.

Cold Stone Creamery

In addition to their signature ice cream pies, Cold Stone Creamery added Key Line Sunshine, Sweet as a Peach and Blueberry Crème to their lineup of pies for the summer. Along with the summer pies, they also debuted their summer picnic line of ice cream flavors including Peaches & Creamery, Key to my Heart and Blueberry Bliss.

So, essentially that first residential home is being written off as the price of doing business.Read More There goes that property value. Other than as a professional residence, who would want to live by a driveway for that traffic? As for the entrance Village Automotive, that will bring even more traffic to an already busy intersection nearby. 25A is impassable/impossible in that area for large chunks of the day now.

The rezoning is for the acres of undeveloped residential land across from Ann Maries Farm stand,Read More extending down to the wooded area on 25A. A one way entrance would be placed by Village Automotive and a one way exit would come out on N. Country Rd. adjacent to the first residential house.

I the BOE and Union didn't allow the majority of the budget be spent on benefits and salaries maybeRead More there would be money left for supplies. With declining enrollment and cuts to programs for our kids they only ones making out are teachers and staff with too generous salaries and benefits. Vote no on Tuesday!

Seriously? We are asked to send in enough supplies per kid each year to supply 5 kids. Where does itRead More all go? It gets lost, thrown out, or ends up back in the students home via backpack. The problem is not the lack of supplies, but a lack of personal responsibility. But if we send in enough supplies each year for ten or fifteen students, then we might be able to avoid the underlying problem.

everyone should research what all the school administrators are raking in and the multple levels ofRead More staff that exists at TVCSD. It is beyond reasonable to have salaries at that level and multiple administrators and assistants and directors and assistant directors and chairman etc. Teachers earn their fair share!
