A Stony Brook woman and her brother are the winners of a $3 million scratch-off lottery ticket jackpot, the New York Lottery announced this week.
Lori Carron and her brother Michael Amodeo said they cried and hugged when they discovered their win, the Lottery said in a statement. The pair claimed their prize Dec. 11, and told the Lottery that they planned to help their family with their winnings.
The winning "$3,000,000 Jackpot" ticket was purchased at Sue’s Cardsmart on Independence Plaza in Selden after Amodeo got off from work. The Lottery said the winnings will be paid in 20 annual payments of $150,000, which will yield about $50,000 each after required withholdings.
