On Main Street at the corner of Bates Road in Setauket, where Emilio Fornino died in a car crash last year, is a roadside memorial remembering the popular co-owner of Via Pizzeria in East Setauket.
"It's been up there since last October," said one resident who lives nearby. "His mother and his family come every now and then."
According to police reports, he struck an embankment and hit a utility pole in his 2004 Jeep Cherokee, suffering head injuries.
Flowers, a flag, a photo and a prayer card adorn the utility pole at the site of Fornino's October 31 crash. Fornino's family is still grief-stricken over the death.
