PHOTOS: Celebrating Traditional Sheep Shearing at Sherwood Jayne Farm

On Sunday afternoon, the Society for the Preservation of Long Island Antiquities hosted its first sheep shearing festival at the Sherwood Jayne Farm in East Setauket. Guests enjoyed traditional folk music, children's crafts, barn and house tours, and folk art demonstrations including felting, quilting, knitting, and rug making. The focal point of the afternoon was the shearing of the sheep to collect wool for use by artisans and crafters.
