Photos: A Look Back at Sandy's Aftermath in Three Village

A look back at Sandy in pictures and the damage that was left behind.

Superstorm Sandy swept through Long Island and the Three Village area one year ago today. It was a powerful storm that toppled trees and snapped power lines causing massive power outages in our area.

As many as 15,000 customers in the Three Village area were without power, some for as long as 10-12 days. The Stony Brook area alone had 7,219 outages at one point. Roads were flooded, homes were lost and families were displaced in the days and weeks that followed. Some are still displaced today.

We gathered photos, many from our readers, that were snapped after Sandy that show how the storm affected our area.

Has the impact of Sandy remained? Has it changed the way you view hurricanes and have you made changes since then to help you become more prepared for another storm? Let us know in the comment section below.
