SBU Official: University Is Exploring Off-Campus Housing Options

Stony Brook University officials are exploring off-campus housing options that could have the potential to alleviate some of the community's concerns over students living in illegal college boarding houses. That news was delivered Monday night at a meeting of the Civic Association of the Setaukets and Stony Brook, where Stony Brook's vice president for external affairs, Elaine Crosson, said "the solution is not just building on-campus beds."

Brookhaven Launches Mobile App Targeted at Curbing Code Violations

Need to submit a town code violation tip to the Town of Brookhaven? There's an app for that. Brookhaven officials on Tuesday unveiled a mobile app that they say will provide a new level of communication between residents and the town's law and building departments, which investigate reports of town code violations.

Mosquito Sample Tests Positive for West Nile Virus in East Setauket

For the first time this year, a mosquito sample taken in East Setauket has tested positive for West Nile Virus, according to Suffolk County health officials. It's one of 22 samples taken between Aug. 27 and Aug. 30 across the county testing positive.

Town contractors are currently finishing up on curbing, sidewalks and driveway aprons on Christian Avenue and actual paving should start in about two weeks, according to Brookhaven Town Highway Superintendent Dan Losquadro.
