Oct. 20: Comedian Larry Miller, Economist Pearl Kamer, and Police Ride-Along

Here's what's happening in Three Village today.

It's a headline kind of day in Three Village, with two events featuring big names in comedy and local economics, an action-packed afternoon at Ward Melville High School, and a Patch ride-along with the sixth precinct.

1. Dr. Pearl Kamer, economist for the Long Island Association, will deliver a talk Wednesday entitled "What's Ahead for the Long Island Economy?" It's a Three Village Chamber of Commerce event at noon at the Three Village Inn.

2. The board of trustees at the Emma S. Clark Memorial Library meets tonight at 7:30 p.m. An update on the search for a new permanent director is expected.

3. Catch some sports action at Ward Melville High School. Field hockey takes on Sachem North at 4:15 p.m., girls' swimming takes on Sachem East at 4:15 p.m., girls' soccer takes on Sachem East at 7:00 p.m., and girls' gymnastics takes on Lindenhurst at 4:30 p.m.

4. Comedian Larry Miller will headline the Cody Center Comedy Festival at the Staller Center at Stony Brook University tonight to benefit the Cody Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities. Tickets are $30 or $25 for students; call 631-632-4466 for more information.
