Nov. 4: Music, Film, and a U.N. Representative

Here's what's happening Thursday in Three Village.

From films and lectures to field hockey and music, Thursday in Three Village promises to be packed with cultural opportunity.

1. The Three Village Central School District is sponsoring a screening of the film Race to Nowhere, a documentary about the dark side of modern education. The showing starts at 7 p.m. at .

2. The top-seeded Ward Melville field hockey team takes on No. 8 Sachem North in a Class A quarterfinal at 2:30 p.m. Go Patriots! Watch for coverage on Three Village Patch. UPDATE 11/4, 12:00 p.m.: Game has been rescheduled to Friday due to inclement weather.

3. A number of lectures and workshops happen at Stony Brook University, but among them is a talk entitled by Dr. Zahir Tanin, the U.N. representative from Afghanistan. Tanin's talk starts at 4:30 p.m. at the Center for Global Studies and Human Development.

4. If you love music, catch a piano and vocal performance of popular music by Stony Brook professor Andrew Flescher and vocalist Jamie Romeiser in the lobby of  at 5 p.m. Or head to the Staller Center for the  at 8 p.m.
