Frank J. Carasiti Elementary School students and staff members just completed their Thanksgiving drive and were able to collect hundreds of nonperishable food items for local families. Anything you could think of from holiday treats to deserts weren't off limits at the event. To help out, the second-grad Service Club, who were advised by counselor Jamie Admaski, helped to go through all of the hundreds of donations and sort them in an orderly fashion to be delivered just in time for the holidays.

Size Reduction in Proposed Stony Brook Chabad Center

A planned two-story synagogue in Stony Brook has made modifications to its plans including reducing the size to one-story. The Merrin Chabad Center went before the Town of Brookhaven’s planning board earlier this month to request the modification. Plans were approved for the building in Sept. 2010.

It's only the 18th Annual Charles Dickens Festival where Dickensian characters wind through the streets and alleyways of Port Jefferson.From Dec. 6 through Dec. 8 the village gets transformed and becomes a weekend full of holiday music, ballet, plays, exhibits, food and fun.

Vacant Bayport Home Poses Safety Hazard, Say Neighbors

The dilapidated condition of a Middle Road home in Bayport has neighbors asking for Islip Town’s help but bureaucratic limitations may prove to be a tough obstacle. The home at 637 Middle Road, just east of the Bayport Avenue and Middle Road intersection, is a vacant boarded up residence clearly in decay given rotting wood, overgrown foliage and evidence of attempted vandalism.

New Village's Havens Avenue Construction Continues

New Village at Patchogue's construction continues, and the buildings on Havens Avenue have been developing over the past few weeks. The newer buildings have the start of the roof and some windows installed. The Lake Street side of the development appears have its external building closer to finished near the South Ocean Avenue end, with construction continuing on the end across from Jennings Avenue.

Sachem High School North's football team were greeted with a congratulatory message at their high school in Lake Ronkonkoma the Monday morning after winning the Long Island championship over the weekend.
