May 10: School Budget Hearing Set for Tuesday Night

Residents have a chance to learn more about the proposed $174.6 million budget.

Tuesday's all about getting down to business. Across Three Village, you'll find a civic association meeting, a public budget hearing, and a networking session. The deadline to sign up for a local summer recreation program is fast approaching, too.

1. A public hearing on Three Village's proposed school budget is set for 8 p.m. at the North Country Administration Center. It is part of the school board's regular meeting, where public speakers are typically invited to make brief presentations.

2. A business networking session combined with an featuring Long Island artists will benefit Stony Brook Long Island Children's Hospital. It takes place at 5:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Express at Stony Brook.

3. Residents of Strongs Neck have their own , which meets at 7:30 p.m. Meetings are at the Setauket Neighborhood House and require registration to attend. David Johnson, Brookhaven's coastal steward, will be the speaker.

4. May 13 is the last day to register for summer recreation and travel programs offered by the Three Village Central School District. That's this Friday, so make your plans fast. Recreation programs are available in full- and half-day sessions for elementary school-age kids, and travel camp for junior high school-age kids includes field trips to places like Citi Field, the Bronx Zoo, Hershey Park and more.
