March 31: Mysteries of Medicine and Boys' Lacrosse Rankings

Here's what's happening Thursday in Three Village.

Medical mysteries will be debunked, karaoke tunes will be sung, and delicious burgers will be revealed today in Three Village. We may or may not also find out from our state legislature whether our local school district will recover any of the $1.4 million in state aid it lost under Gov. Andrew Cuomo's proposed budget, so stay tuned.

1. A series of events addressing the kicks off at the Ward Melville Heritage Organization's Educational & Cultural Center at 6 p.m. Today's topic is infectious diseases and Stony Brook University president Samuel L. Stanley Jr. will be a guest speaker.

2. The LaxPower national boys' lacrosse rankings are out, and our own Ward Melville Patriots have come in at No. 18 on the list. They're in the company of such Long Island powerhouse teams as Sachem North (No. 14) and West Islip (No. 15) – and No. 2 Garden City, whom the Patriots will take on Saturday at 2 p.m. in a nonleague contest.
