March 3: Hip Hop Group, Drawing Group, and Group Therapy

Here's what's happening Thursday in Three Village.

The word 'group' can in general be widely applied to a range of interests – in today's case, a trio of hip hop artists, a gathering of artists, and a support structure for those in need of help. Read on.

1. If experimental hip hop is your thing – or even if it isn't, and you're just curious – head over to the University Cafe at Stony Brook for Das Racist, a Brooklyn trio giving a free show with other guest performers at 8 p.m.

2. Tap the artist within at a at the Setauket Neighborhood House. Choose from two friendly sessions during which artists of all levels learn from each other as they sketch a live model.

3. A handful of local religious organizations provide support group services for people with various needs. Stony Brook Community Church and Church on the Sound are two of those organizations. SBCC offers twice-weekly AA meetings and Church on the Sound hosts Celebrate Recovery sessions.
